Replace FileZilla, phpMyAdmin and Your DNS Panel

Learn when Naucturne can replace separate file-transfer, phpMyAdmin, SSH and DNS tools with one encrypted desktop workspace-and when it should not.

A routine website change can require four logins before any work starts. The files live in FileZilla, commands run in a terminal, data sits behind phpMyAdmin, and DNS belongs to a provider dashboard. Add a password manager and the operator is coordinating five separate contexts for one customer.

Naucturne is designed around the site instead of the protocol. A site entry can lead to files, a terminal, database profiles and associated DNS operations. The goal is not to claim that one interface is automatically superior at every task. It is to remove repeated setup where the same team handles the complete website lifecycle.

Replacing the file-transfer window

Naucturne provides the familiar local-and-remote layout: local files on one side, server files on the other, with bidirectional drag and drop, multi-selection, a transfer queue and multiple session tabs. SFTP, FTP and FTPS are supported.

The difference appears around the transfer. The active server can also open an SSH terminal, a Monaco-based editor or related database profiles. Connections are organised in personal and team vaults rather than duplicated in every utility.

FileZilla remains a reasonable choice for a simple standalone transfer workflow, especially where it is already the shared standard or its Pro cloud connectors are required. Read the broader FTP client comparison before migrating purely for novelty.

Replacing routine phpMyAdmin visits

Naucturne’s database view supports MySQL and MariaDB through a direct connection, an SSH tunnel or a temporary PHP gateway for compatible shared hosting. Operators can inspect databases, tables, columns and indexes, page through data, execute SQL, edit rows and export SQL.

That covers common development and support tasks: confirm a configuration value, correct a record, inspect a migration or export data before a change. It also keeps the database profile near the files and server that use it.

Keep phpMyAdmin or a specialist desktop client when you depend on host-specific plugins, advanced server administration, modelling, profiling or database engines that Naucturne does not support. Consolidation should reduce unnecessary switching, not remove an expert tool that is genuinely needed.

Replacing DNS dashboard hopping

For OVH, Cloudflare, GoDaddy and IONOS, Naucturne can list, create, edit and delete DNS records from the desktop client. BIND import and export helps move or back up complete zones. Nameserver detection can reveal when the domain is delegated somewhere other than the zone being edited.

The Mailgun workflow goes further for outbound email: it creates a sending domain in the selected region, writes SPF, DKIM, MX and tracking records into a supported zone, adds DMARC protection and checks validation.

This does not replace every registrar or DNS provider. Domains hosted elsewhere still require their provider’s API or dashboard.

One site, one operational sequence

  1. Select the customer site

    Open the labelled connection from a personal vault or team workspace instead of searching several unrelated saved-site lists.

  2. Change the code

    Download or edit the remote file, inspect the transfer queue and use the SSH terminal if the deployment needs a command.

  3. Check the data

    Open the associated MySQL or MariaDB profile through its direct, tunneled or PHP-gateway route.

  4. Finish the infrastructure change

    Update the OVH or Cloudflare record, or configure the Mailgun sending domain, without copying the customer context into another dashboard.

Fewer tools should not mean weaker separation

Naucturne does not turn every service into one password. Each connection keeps its own host, identity and permissions. Sensitive credential fields are encrypted locally with AES-256-GCM before cloud storage; connection metadata is synchronized separately. The master password is not transmitted, and team keys are sealed for authorised members.

Team roles and per-feature permissions can separate files, terminal, database and DNS access. That is more precise than sending one exported site-manager file to everyone, but endpoint security remains the user’s responsibility. A compromised unlocked computer can expose secrets used in memory.

See the security model and the guide to sharing SFTP access with a team before centralising production access.

Who should consolidate-and who should not

Naucturne is a strong fit for web agencies, managed-service teams and developers who repeatedly handle files, SQL, DNS and SSH for the same sites. The time saving compounds when the inventory contains dozens or hundreds of customer environments.

Do not consolidate merely to reduce icon count. Keep specialist tools when:

  • transfers are fully automated through CI/CD;
  • database administration requires advanced DBA capabilities;
  • DNS is hosted outside OVH, Cloudflare, GoDaddy or IONOS;
  • privileged sessions require recording and approval;
  • organisational policy requires strict workstation separation.

A practical migration path

Start with a small, non-critical group of sites. Import supported WinSCP sessions, create database profiles, connect the relevant DNS accounts and assign explicit team permissions. Verify host fingerprints and test member removal before moving production access.

The WinSCP import guide covers the supported .ini and XML path. The SFTP and MySQL workflow shows the most common integrated intervention.

Consolidation is valuable when it preserves clarity: one customer context, separate underlying identities, and fewer opportunities to paste a production credential or DNS value into the wrong tool.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Can Naucturne replace FileZilla?

For SFTP, FTP and FTPS desktop workflows, Naucturne provides dual-pane transfers, queues, remote editing and saved sites. FileZilla may remain preferable when its specific cloud integrations or established cross-company workflow are required.

Can Naucturne replace phpMyAdmin?

For routine MySQL and MariaDB browsing, SQL queries, row editing and exports, it can remove many trips to phpMyAdmin. Advanced administration or host-specific phpMyAdmin plugins may still require another tool.

Which DNS providers are supported?

Naucturne currently integrates with OVH, Cloudflare, GoDaddy and IONOS for zone management, including BIND import and export. Other DNS providers still require their own interface.

Does putting everything in one application create one master credential?

No. Server, database, DNS and email credentials remain separate records. Naucturne encrypts their sensitive fields locally in a vault and can apply member-level permissions to shared team access.
